About

High-quality horse references designed for artists who demand accuracy, movement, and expression.

About US

Photography References for Artists.

As an artist, I understand how challenging it can be to find the right reference photos—especially for horses. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of photographing magnificent horses across Europe and the USA. With more photos than I could ever use myself, I’m sharing them here for fellow equine artists. And it’s not just horses—you’ll also find dogs, cats, wildlife, and a handful of nature and landscape photos.

Why Support Me?

Every purchase helps me continue capturing high-quality reference photos for artists like you. By supporting my work, you're not just getting images—you’re making it possible for me to travel, photograph more horses, and expand this collection with even more dynamic and diverse references. Your support directly contributes to the time, effort, and resources it takes to provide accurate, high-resolution images that artists can rely on. Thank you for being part of this journey and helping me bring more equine and animal references to the creative community!

The Reference Collection Built for Equine Artists!

My name is Karen Broemmelsick, and I'm an artist and photographer with a special love for painting and photographing horses and dogs. Over the years, I noticed how many artists struggled to find quality horse references—so I set out to change that. In 2017, I created my Facebook group, Artist Reference Photos by Karen, to share my equine photography with fellow artists. The support from that community has made incredible opportunities possible—like traveling to France in 2018 to photograph a variety of horse breeds, and again in 2021 to Portugal and Spain, where I captured the beauty of Lusitano and Andalusian horses. My goal is to continue expanding this collection, traveling to even more places to provide equine artists with a diverse and reliable source of reference photography.
